`DINAWAMU MAHINDA PARADAVAMU SRI LANKA`!

The above is a more appropriate slogan that depicts whats in store for the country in the unfortunate event of Mahinda being elected the 5th President of Sri Lanka. The country is at cross roads and the SLFP/JVP candidate Mahinda has no solution to the twin problems that confronts the nation namely a solution to the ethnic issue and the ever deteriorating economic situation. If we take our minds back to 1994 the SLFP/JVP candidate made a series of promises to the nation and to her coalition partners in respect of the the Constitution, the economy and ethnic problem.Has any of the promises been fulfilled? On the eve of her departure from the Presidency we are nearer to War than Peace, the economy is in dire straits with double digit inflation, unemployment is high among the `sinhala only` educated, the law and order situation is at the lowest, the moral standards has drooped to the extent that the SLFP spokesman has suggested the age of consent to be reduced to 13 years from the present 16 years. Now once again the SLFP/JVP candidate has come before the voters not with any solutions to the pressing problem but with the usual mantra that Ranil is betraying the country and is offering it on a plater to the `Demala`.This has been the theme song since the 1990`s to win over the gullible sinhalese voter. Its time for the southern voter for his sake and the countries future to look at the issues rationally and vote the only candidate who is capable of turning the country around-Ranil Wickremasinghe because if he is defeated by the political mob the country is defeated and not the UNP.
