I dont mean to intrude nor do I mean to accuse some one who is dead. It is not only the leftist Sinhalease leaders and Tamil politicians who were punished, assaulted or given a bad deal by JRJ. He did that to some SLA personnel too. This is some SLA personnel who took the job seriously and who actually served in the troubled areas. To get into trouble, all you have to do is to refuse carrying the can to some of his politicians.
Some of us dont care two hoots about politicians, their politico/thug sons and their demands to beat up their opponents. The minute you refuse (ok, may not be in exactly diplomatic or polite ways the refusal was), that politico informs the defense secretary and the SLA officer all of a sudden is branded a SLFP. Then the same thing happens when the SLFP is in power.
There is no point in claiming that Tamils were given a special bad deal. So were sinhalease including SLA soldiers. My earnest question is, and I have raised this question many times, do minorities request some special rights because they are minorities? Can they be happy with equal rights instead?
