You heard of one Varatharasaperumal (V-P)who was `elected` as the Chief Minister of the N-E Provincial Council following the Indo-Lanka Accord. V-P complained that he could not implement any project as he 1. had no funds - Centre - JR- did not allocate 2. he did not have aduquate power to carry out the projects. JR refused to budge, so V-P declared UDI - that is declared an independent Eelam so JR ordered his arret and Indians gave him political asylum. Minorities must be made to feel they are part of the country either as it is in Singapore where all 3 communities, Chinese, Malays and Indians (Tamils) enjoy parity of status of 3 languages OR in other countries (US, Canada, Oz, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium) a sincere Federal System without the control from the (Majority dominated -Sinhalese-) control. Damayanthi, this is 21st century, we cannot rule others, colonialism is dead. |
