FYI, we already tried the `ahimsa` way for more than 3 dacades and only after it failed miserably, was the armed resistance born.
Ghandhi choose the `ahimsa` method against the brits, because he knew their mentality, they saw themselves as morally superior and civilized than the Indians, and what Ghandhi was doing was very upsetting to their superiority beliefs. Ghandhi`s ahimsa vazhi won`t even work with the present day Indians, let alone the Sinhalese.
