[sinhalese and tamils are only separated by language, culture and religion. Otherwise, they are very,very,very similar people] This is not 100% true it is true to a certain extent, but Tamils always boast about their language, culture and religion whereas Sinhalese adapt to the environment that prevails within. Good example is the European invasions set many Sinhalese to beocme Christians/catholics and even created other class discontents. Tamils would not allow to marry another partner beside their own most of the time whereas Sinhalese are very liberal and susceptible. The current ethnic issue is also one part of that susceptibility of giving in. Sinhalese respect others hence more or less get in to tangles with the others thus losing what they have. This is why we are unable to eliminate terrorism. When tamils talk about their discrimantion we Sinhalese listen to their pleas but whenever we Sinhalese have been deprived that falls onto deaf ears. That is the difference between tamils and Sinhalese. You or me would talk against inequality of tamils but the tamils would not dare to open their mouths for the Sinhalese for sure.
