Who ever identifies this need to educate the Bhudhist monks,they have thought it through correctly.
Monks have been very racists in their behaviour, despite them being men of god, they have played a key part in the racism towards the minorities including the sinhala christians. I think it is due to the manipulativeness and ignorance of the Monks; they want to be in control of the sinhala society. The sinhalese too follow them and believe them foolishly. There are few monks who are different, but they are only a minority. No wonder Rohana Wijemuni now belongs to the JHU, the monk`s political party. He wanted to kill Rajiv Ghandhi. I am not optimistic that they will learn much, there is a structural problem going back so many years. They need hipnotists to work on them for the next 50 years. |
