I can?t believe the level of ignorance and narrow-mindedness being displayed in this discussion.
Thank you ?Anonymous? for your input here, you?ve taken the words right out of my mouth. I was reading this discussion earlier and the comments being made were so unwarranted, it was quite frustrating to see that people actually think this way.
This incident really has very little to do with ?Sri Lankans embracing western culture? nor with ?Parents letting their children embrace western culture?. If the murderer had the motive to kill her then there is every possibility that this incident could have happened regardless of whether they went clubbing or not.
As for the comment about ?international school culture?, yes it?s true that they do have a more westernized school culture but to associate such an incident with school culture is absurd. The school which the victim and suspect were students of, is one of the best International schools in Sri Lanka (if not the best) and its integrity should in no way be measured by such an incident which it had no control over.
