AndyPrem,

[Who ever did it deserves condemnation and more .]

Yes, I couldn`t agree more.

[I am really upset about what happened to Lasatha Wickematunge. He knew the risks. He could have taken an easier path like others did. He wasn`t just critical of the power center in Colombo. Mr. Wickrematunga was equally critical of the Tigers also. I had the fortune to meet with the late Tharmaratnam Sivaram (`Tharaki`) few times. He was a brilliant analyst as well as a good writer. The best military analyst Sri Lanka ever had, in my opinion. He didn`t look at this war from a purely military perspective, he looked at it from strategic, social and economic angles. He even gave a presentation to the Pentagon at their request, few years ago. But during his last visit to the US, he sounded very depressed. He already had threats against his life. Yet, he wanted to be with his people despite the US government`s offer for him stay here! During the last few months of his life, Tharaki was became critical of the Tigers as well (for `falling into the peace trap` during the CFA period). And then, he crossed path with Karuna (with both coming from Batticaloa). The blame for his death finally fell on PLOTE. Many people suspected that it was Karuna`s men. Tharaki knew a lot of people. He also knew too much, much to the dislike of some in Sri Lanka. All the talented minds either leaving Sri Lanka, or eliminated one by one if they chose to stay. - Yarlan]
