Parliament approved three months leave for UPFA MP Duminda Silva and Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne today.
Parliament has approved leave for MP Duminda Silva continuously since he is seeking treatment for his injuries at a hospital in Singapore. An MP should obtain parliamentary approval to be absent for more than three months. In case, such approval is not granted, an MP will lose his seat after the lapse of three months.
The Prime Minister is also under medication in the United States at the moment. On behalf of the government, Leader of the House Nimal Siripala de Silva moved the motion seeking leave approval for the two members.
