A Sri Lankan court was informed today that governing party parliamentarian Duminda Silva who is an accused in the murder of Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra would surrender to court after returning to the country.

Silva`s lawyer, President`s Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya has told the Colombo Magistrate`s Court that Silva, who is currently receiving treatments at a hospital in Singapore, would surrender to court upon his return to the country.

Silva is being treated for injuries sustained during the shootout that killed Premachandra and three others on the local government election day in October last year.

Warnakulasuriya objected to a request by the Counsel appearing for Premachandra`s family who asked the court to issue a warrant through Interpol to arrest Silva and informed the court Silva would surrender when he returns.

However, Warnakulasuriya has told the court that Silva would surrender if the case is still ongoing at the time of his return to the country.
