Nurses in the North Western Province warn the provincial Council that they will report to work in civil attire unless their uniform allowance is paid. Government Nursing Officers Association (GNOA) Branch President, of the Kuliyapitiya Base Hospital, R. M. Ranathunga said yesterday that nurses uniform allowances had been increased by Rs. 4,000 in March but it had not been paid.
He said they had earlier been paid a uniform allowance of Rs. 13,000 but the council had up to date delayed paying them the revised allowance.
The Nurses at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital were paid the amended allowance on time, as they were under the line Ministry. But nurses of the Kuliyapitiya, Dambadeniya, Anamaduwa, and Hettipola hospitals, which were under the NWPC had not been paid their uniform allowance, he said, adding there were approximately 1,400 nurses under the provincial council.
Ranathunga said the union representatives had spoken to officials regarding the matter, but they were yet to receive a favourable response. He warned that they would work in casual clothes till Monday (20). However, the GNOA would resort to tougher trade union action if the NWPC failed to pay them the allowance by that time, he said.

They take the allowance, spend only 1/10 th of the allowanc to the make the uniform and balance goes to buy their favourite cloths!
LOL!
or else, if the Health ministry can provide the Uniforms, Nurses don't have to report in civili attire!

Everything must give based on the performance. So many are getting all the increments and benefits without even doing there basic duties.
Performance basis is the best answer. Then these union mafia's cannot protest as they want..
This should apply to all the sectors and ministers too.
