the real economic hit-men are those responsible for the transactions that resulted in an enormous loss of public funds
Dr. De Silva told the Daily Mirror those responsible for the losses in the derivatives, equities and the fixed income market were the very same individuals.
The country funds were gambled in the derivatives market through the hedging deal resulting in a loss of 27 billion rupees, the EPF funds invested in the stock market have incurred a loss thus far of up to 12.2 billion rupees and the Greek Junk bond deal has resulted in a loss of close to eight million dollars, he said.

The quality of diesel imported to Sri Lanka has come under question as the country's petroleum authority, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has reportedly received a number of complaints that some vehicles have experienced mechanical failures after using substandard diesel.
According to local media reports, the CPC has sent samples of suspected low quality fuel to Dubai for laboratory tests to determine whether they meet the required standards.

How many times they did purchase low quality fuel? Any punishment to the minister or other officials who involved?

Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajyantha yesterday refuting certain rumours on substandard diesel said laboratory tests have confirmed that the diesel consignment issued by the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) is up to the required standard.
Addressing an SLFP media conference at the Mahaweli Centre yesterday, the minister observed that the media has highlighted two isolated incidents. He said all the imported fuel consignments are tested on two occasions to ascertain that they are up to the required standard.
He also noted the ministry is ready to conduct an investigation, if it receives written complaints that technical errors in vehicles have occurred due to the diesel distributed by the CPSTL.
Minister says tests are done here, while other report says the test are to be held in Dubai to even determine the quality standard...!

Tamil Nadu actor-turned-politician Vijayakant accused former TN Chief Minister Karunanidhi (DMK) of letting LTTE Leader Prabhakaran die, the Hindu reported.
He claimed that the planned Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO) conference would serve no purpose since the DMK as the ruling party did nothing to protect Sri Lankan Tamils during the last phase of war in Sri Lanka.
It was the ruling party and Mr. Karunanidhi was the Chief Minister. He did nothing and allowed LTTE leader Prabhakaran to die. What is the point in organising TESO now? He has never been consistent in his stand. In the beginning he said Tamil Eelam was his objective. Now he has gone back on his stand, he alleged.
