The police are investigating a shocking case of a rape victim being raped again by a law enforcement officer and a three wheeler driver.
Why are Police always busy bringing to justice rapists and Kos Gedi Horu(petty thieves who steal a jack fruit)? Why cant they bring a White van abductor to justice or better still a big Time corrupt minister ( one of the infamous Silvas) who robs this poor nation?
Simple! Police arent allowed to do their job without fear or favor by big politicians applying political pressure. If any cop dare to ignore orders from higher-ups, in order to do his sworn constitutional duty, either he gets fired or transferred to a remote, desolate town.
Boy or boy, our Politicians have mastered the art of using so called ' democracy' to turn it upside down. Lincoln said Democracy is 'by the people, of the people and for the people', But in SL,it is 'by the people ,of the people and anything BUT for people'
Hopefully, thanks to the Internet, our younger generation will be a lot smarter not to be screwed by politicians.

LTTE tortured and killed spies, looted Tamil shops Fmr. LTTE cadre
The LTTE tortured and killed alleged spies and traitors and also looted Tamil shops and homes while fighting the Indian peacekeepers in Sri Lanka, a book by a former woman fighter says.
Niromi de Soyza, who joined the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in early 1987 at age 17 and now lives in Australia, says she quit the group after realising that violence cannot lead to a Tamil Eelam state.
One afternoon, in Sudhumali in Jaffna, Niromi and her Tiger friends saw some of their male colleagues kick and punch a teenage LTTE member, Vellai, even as he kept muttering I didn t do it, I didn t do it.
Accusing him of being an Indian spy, Vellai was buried up to his shoulder, forced to swallow cyanide, to see what it did to him , says the 308-page book, Tamil Tigress (Mehta Publishing House).
Finally, an LTTE guerrilla, Justin, dealt a blow on the victim s skull with an axe.
Niromi says of the killers: The boys burst out laughing... For them, killing Vellai was no different to killing a cockroach.
Later, in a jungle camp in the Vanni region in Sri Lanka s north, the LTTE s then number two, Mahattaya, shot dead an 18-year-old guerrilla, Shanthan, for falling in love with a woman colleague.
The two young men who had led Shanthan into the tent now dragged his body behind them, by his arms.
A thin stream of blood was running down from the centre of Shanthan s forehead, down his blue-and-white checked shirt.
One of the men opened the back door of the jeep, and they threw Shanthan s body in. Then they drove off.
Nobody in the camp spoke after the killing, and no one comforted the dead man s love, Nora, who kept sobbing.
Niromi says: I could not comprehend the senseless murder of this young man. I felt sickened, confused and outraged all at once.
After seeing similar harshness in the group, Niromi began to question the ethics under which LTTE commanders operated.
From top to bottom in our organization, everyone did whatever they pleased so long as they could justify it as being for the good of the (LTTE). I had not been prepared for this.
The book says that in 1986, even before Niromi joined the LTTE, the Tigers brutally killed members of rival groups in Jaffna.
This included hanging members of the TELO outfit from trees and setting them on fire while they were alive.
The LTTE also massacred members of another Tamil group, the EPRLF, whom it had earlier taken captive in Jaffna.
While fleeing from Indian troops, who were deployed in Sri Lanka s northeast under a 1987 bilateral pact, Niromi saw LTTE guerrillas break into shops and loot chicken, clothing, food and more.
When she protested, one LTTE member said: If we don t loot the shops, someone else will.
With that kind of reasoning, I too helped myself to a shirt, sachets of shampoo, packets of fruit-and-nut chocolate and a few children s books....
Although (our commander) had banned the use of cosmetics, some (LTTE) girls were not deterred from grabbing tubes of skin-whitening Fair & Lovely face creams and also nail varnish.
On another occasion, LTTE guerrillas looted footwear, sanitary napkins and underwear from a shop. Indian soldiers took the blame for such looting.
The book says that people of Jaffna repeatedly pleaded with the LTTE to give up fighting the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF).
One of Niromi s close associates in the LTTE was Akila, who was one of the three people declared proclaimed offenders after the 1991 killing of former Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. The other two were Prabhakaran and his intelligence chief, Pottu Amman.
After Niromi quit the LTTE in 1988, Akila rose to become the deputy head of the women s intelligence wing. The Sri Lankan military killed her at Neerveli in Jaffna in 1995, IANS reports.

Too stale news brother.
You should have read this award winning book last year when it was released as 'Tamil Tigress'.
Interestingly some sinhalese condemned this book without even reading it as it was an LTTE propaganda but this book analyses all around the LTTE struggle, the common man's belief, bias, accepting and hating the LTTE, and even struggling to justify the LTTE owing to the injustices and violence perpetrated by the sinhala people and the sinhala military.
In fact it is a very balanced book analysing from tamils' perspective, but it condemns LTTE and its utmost stupidity including Velu, as she spent more time with the LTTE.
Book is fine but many so-called experts, including the 'scholar' Michael Robert, condemned it as LTTE propaganda without even properly reading the book. In fact the book mostly condemned the LTTE and an insight into LTTE stupidity and ignorance.
Even this gentleman has not obviously read the entire book and fully digested it, and instead picked a page or two some where and trying to comment. It is like the Blind Men describing the elephant!
The book needs very indepth reading and it explains very clearly as to why tamils supported the LTTE even though they were mostly against violence and they did not fully agree with their modus operandi!
Tamils had a love/hate relationship with the LTTE and Niromi is very correct, 100%! |

The reason for this is the almost UNLIMITED POWER the Constitution gives the President.
Unless the Constitution is changed by removing the ABSOLUTE POWER the President enjoys and make him accountable, there will be no deterrence or any significant drop in Crimes and breach of law

Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees treated worse than Beasts in Tamil Nadu
The Tamil Nadu Q branch police are treating the Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees in camps, worse than beasts. Lankan Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu are continuously harassed and tortured.
Naam Tamizhar founder-leader Seeman too have alleged yesterday that Sri Lankan refugees in Tamil Nadu are mostly ill-treated, harassed and tortured.
Sri Lankan Tamil refugees fled for Tamil Nadu hoping they might be treated with honor and dignity in Tamil Nadu, an Indian state with some 65million Tamils.
Unfortunately, those Lankan asylum seekers are quartered in 110 'cattle shed' like camps and treated like inhuman-beings by the state government officials, as well as by the police.
According to reports, the Tamil Nadu Q branch police are running an illegal detention camp in Chengalapattu. Currently nearly 28 refugees are imprisoned in the camp and invariably all of them face the common charge of entering India without a passport.
Overall, the Chengalpattu refugee camp is neither functioning as a prison run in accordance with human rights laws, nor as a refugee camp where rights are guaranteed.
Rather it s clear that it is functioning as an illegal detention camp. These refugees are neither treated by the international Refugee law (UNHCR), nor by the Indian Penal Code.
Some of these refugees in the Chengalpattu camp went to India seeking asylum some 20 years ago. Cases have been registered against them also for the same reason after May,2009. The high court of Tamil Nadu has dismissed the charges against 7 of these refugees and has ordered their immediate release.
But these refugees are being illegally detained in these prisons. Apart from this, fabricated cases of thieving, smuggling of weapons and drugs have also been registered against some of the refugees. Even though the police have no evidence against these refugees, the case has been adjourned whenever it comes for the hearing.
The refugees are not allowed to leave the camp. They are given 70 rupees per day for food and upkeep, with which they are expected to buy the necessities to cook their daily food by themselves. In case of any medical emergency, they are taken to the hospitals escorted by 4 police men.
Recently Tamils in Germany demonstrated in front of the Indian High Commission conveying solidarity with the Lankan Tamil refugees who are illegally detained in the Chengalpet special camp , and demanded India to close such inhuman detention facilities and treat the Tamil refugees like others, who have entered its territory for sanctuary from persecution and urged the UN to compel India to adhere to the standards of the UNHCR.

Sri Lankan ambassadors respond to the Presidential rebuke

Sri Lankan diplomats serving in overseas missions say it is humorous to hear the President reprimanding mission heads saying their only aim was to educate the children when the President had used all resources in overseas missions to provide facilities to his three sons to be educated overseas.
The President had reprimanded the heads of Sri Lankan missions overseas during the two day workshop in the Diyathalawa defence academy. The President has said the ambassadors did not work for the country, but were busy trying to educate their children.
A head of a Sri Lankan diplomatic mission who attended the workshop said, Then Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the UK Kshenuka Seneviratne was personally assigned the task of providing food and lodging to the President s eldest son Namal Rajapaksa when he was pursuing his higher education in London. Namal s mobile phone bill was paid by the Sri Lankan High Commission.
Also, when second son Yoshitha Rajapaksa was studying at the Ukrainian Defence Academy, al facilities required by him were provided by the Sri Lankan ambassador in Kiev, Udayanga Weeratunge. When Yoshitha traveled to the South Hampton Academy for studies, it was once again the Sri Lankan High Commission in the UK that provided for his requirements.
The President s youngest son, Rohitha Rajapaksa is now being looked after in the US by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Washington and Ambassador Jaliya Wickremasuriya. The official who gave us the information said that it was the embassy that had purchased a house for Rohitha near the NASA Academy and three vehicles for his use.
Sri Lanka s image amongst the international community has been damaged due to the government s pig headed actions and that even a hundred workshops like the one that was held in Diyathalawa would not be able to lift the country s image, the official said.

Girl forced to drink urine for bedwetting by hostel warden
In a shocking incident of enforcing discipline, a class 5 student in Visva-Bharati's Patha Bhavan school in West Bengal was made to drink her urine by the hostel warden as a punishment for bedwetting.
The woman warden s inhuman treatment has shocked India with calls for stiff punishment. The girl s trauma came into the open when she disclosed she was made to wring the bedsheet and forced to drink her urine.
A four- member fact-finding committee has been constituted to look into a complaint of the student. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has termed the incident 'barbaric'.

This happened in West Bengal (Culcutta) and why are you wasting this forum?
What are you trying to say or trying to arrive at?
Is this anything to do with the Tamils, Sinhalese, LTTE, TNA, Percy, Mervin, Criminals, drug traffickers....so why waste your time?
Mind seems to be totally digressing friend and that is not good!
If at all, only relevance is that one postulate is that Vijaya came from that area!! |
