The elections monitoring body, Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) on Monday complained to the Elections Secretariat regarding the polls violations taking place in the Kegalle and Trincomalee districts.
CaFFE Executive Director Keerthi Tennakoon told Ceylon Today that six incidents related to election violations have been reported in the Trincomalee districts. He further added that in the Kegalle district six candidates, from both the UPFA and UNP have been identified for violating election laws.
We have been receiving these complaints for the past four day. Soon after identifying the violations that took place we complained to the Elections Secretariat, Tennakoon said.
He stated that the complaints received were mainly related to cutouts that have been placed in the two districts which are violations of elections laws. According to reports received from CaFFE the most number of election violations to date have originated from the Eastern Province.
CaFFE has yet no received any complaints related to election violence.
