With increasing child abuses in Sri Lanka, the government is planning to impose tough punishments against the offenders, an official said on Monday.
Discussions are underway with the Ministry of Justice and other law enforcement officials to introduce severe punishments on culprits, said Asoka Alawatta, acting Secretary of the Child Development and Women`s Affairs Ministry.
Meanwhile the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA), a government institution established in 1998 to protect children has demanded to introduce capital punishment on those convicted of child abuses.
The chairman of the NCPA, Anoma Dissanayake has suggested that the only way to control the current trend of child abuses is to impose stringent punishment.
The NCPA has received more than 20,000 complaints of child abuses so far in 2012.
The Cabinet Spokesman, Keheliya Rambukwella also said the government is considering changing laws relating to child abuses, `Punishment has to be introduced at least to create fear psychosis among the perpetrators.`
The police said with 975 cases in the first six months of 2012 there is a considerable rise in the child abuses and the increase in access to computers, internet and mobile phones has assisted in the rise of child abuses in Sri Lanka.

'Sri Lanka to introduce severe punishments against child abuse'
Everyday Srilanka 'Introduces' laws and 'Punishments', but none of them 'Impose' or 'Impliments' , because most of those 'Law Breakers' are either 'Politicians' or connected to 'Political Cnnection'.This is the 'Down Fall' of this regeme. Some of those are 'Examples'.
(1)Baratha Premachandra murder case,
(2)T,Galle rape case,
(3)Museum robbery,
(4)Buddhist priest Killing in the Temple,
(5) Deep down south 'Tourist Murder'.
There was a time of Srilankan history in 1970,when the 'World's First Lady Priminister's time one priminister's 'Cousin' said 'I am the Law' and changed 'Supreme Court Judgements' over the night by a 'Teliphone Call'.Today whole world look at Srilanka whether that 'Period' rebirth again.

This is not enough.....
Make the prostitution legalize in Sri Lanka..
Then you can introduce thousands of punishments.....
Our society is sexually depressed....so no point to introduce punishments without giving the treatments to the actual problem.....this is become a social issue now...
:-)))

Legalize rape. Legalize crimes.
They are already legalized according to the jungle laws of Srilanka.
What happened to 'SUDU PUTA'- 'White son'?
It is revealed that the Attorney General s Dept (AG) that ought to be in the vanguard of ensuring that justice prevails and laws are implemented duly in the best interests of the law abiding citizens of the country , is instead standing tall and shamelessly naked to protect criminals and promoting criminalities in the country, according to reports reaching Lanka e news.
The CID is expected to submit a further report to the courts today (6) relating to the notorious criminal Julampitiya Amare alias Geegana Gamage Amarasena the suspect in the ghastly murders committed at Katuwana recently .
What had rudely shocked all was , the instructions given by the Solicitor General to the senior Deputy Director SSP S .R D Wijesuriya , and Shani Abeysekera , not to disclose the past crime records in the police of Amare in the additional report to the courts.
The solicitor General had also told them that Amare was not arrested and he had surrendered only in regard to the four warrants issued on him , and to include only those details in the additional report to the court. There are other suspects in the Katuwana murders, and not to include Palitha Fernando a murderer as a suspect in this report, he had added.
