Sri Lanka main opposition appoints nomination committee for Provincial Council elections

Sri Lanka`s main opposition United National Party (UNP) has appointed a party nomination committee for the North Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern Provincial Councils.
The nomination committee headed by the party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe comprises 12 members.
The committee includes Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa, General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, National Organizer Daya Gamage, parliamentarians Gamini Jayawickrama Perera, Joseph Micheal Perera, Shanthini Kongahage, Ravi Karunanayaka, Kabir Hashim, Mangala Samaraweera and Ruwan Wijewardene.
A UNP spokesman further said that the final decision regarding the chief minister candidates will be taken at the party working committee meeting scheduled on July 19.
