Sri Lanka to introduce vehicle emission laws in Northern Province

Sri Lanka Ministry of Environment has planned to introduce vehicle emission tests in the Northern Province, a region recovering from the three-decade long war .
The emission test is compulsory for the issue of license of vehicles in all the other Provinces except Northern Province.
The vehicle emission tests will initially, be conducted in Jaffna district and later on in Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mannar and Mullaitivu districts.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Environment B.M.U.D. Basnayaka said that the selection of venues for emission test centers had been completed.
The eligible companies to run the tests are to be selected by the end of the year.
