The nine employees of the Sri Lanka Mirror website, who were arrested yesterday, were released on police bail today. Among those arrested were journalists including women and girls. They were produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate this afternoon and given bail and were ordered to appear in court again on the 6th of July.
thing i cant understand is why these preachers who want our politicians to be made accountable for their actions are acting confused when journalists were made accountable for what they wrote....again the main point, is there such a thing called a absolute right in writing any crap in public sphere.

Politicians NEVER get punished in SL never mind whether they are in Govt. or in Opposition. It is a question of 'you scratch my back, I scratch your back.
Somebody has to pay for the follies of the politicians and, unfortunately, it is the people and the country that end up paying. The people elected the politicians right?

I am definitely a Sri Lankan but NOT a stupid one. You must know your strengths and weaknesses and have to be realistic. India is a vast country with a lot of clout and power. We are a tiny country compared to India. So,we must know our limits and ensure that we don't do stupid things to annoy India. If we don't, India can hurt us in more than one way. For JR's folly of courting the Americans to the annoyance of Indians, we had to pay an enormous price in the form of a 30 year war. Now MR is playing games by promising something and denying later. You think India will tolerate that?
If you had a neighbour who is a powerful person, would you do anything to earn his wrath? It is the same in country-relationship.

Menon Sri Lanka is not your Ammda or Appada property to suggest giving land powers to Kallathooni Para Demalas. This land belongs to Singhalayas. MR jolly well knows that he won t be able to cross the Benthara river if give Land powers to Demalas.

You are 100% correct. I too agree with Banda. He got into sarama to deal with the dogs and see what had happened to Sri Lanka, his sarama had become sarama plus rathu shawl. |
