Sri Lanka Transport Board to subject buses for emission tests

Sri Lanka Minister of Transport Kumara Welgama has admitted in parliament that the buses belong to the Sri Lanka Transport Board have not undergone emission tests for three years.
According to Sri Lankan law all vehicles needed to undergo the emission test as a pre-requisite for the license and passenger transport vehicles should submit the suitability report as well.
Passengers complain that most of the Sri Lanka Transport Board buses are not roadworthy and they cause severe pollution.
Admitting the shortcoming, the Minister said that initiatives are afoot to subject Sri Lanka

Its a known fact...
Some SLTB buses send more polluant smoke than charcoal type trains which our grandparents used in our childhood days!
In some western countries, diesel powered vehicles are not subjected to severe anti-pollution tests like petrol powered vehicles.
But Sri Lanka should do it as soon as possible.
What about other vehicles, such as lorries?
They also contribute to large scale pollution hazards....
