They sure put us on the map, as having the world's most ruthless terrorist organization.

I hope they would not put us on the map again, in a similar manner.

Never Again,

You will never think properly and you will never imporve!

Have you ever thought how this 'most ruthless terrorist organization' came into existence?

Don't you know that this organization was the result of ruthless, shameless, senseless Sinhala violence against the innocent UNARMED Tamil civilians?

Had there been no Sinhala terrorism then you would have never seen this Tamil ruthless terrorism!!

But even after LTTE still sinhala terrorism is continuing in various ways, rapes, abduction, murders, land grab, forced Buddist expansionism, absent judiciary, no free media, no police force, abuse of public funds, to name a few.

At least 11 people were arrested at a lodge in Puttalam this morning as they were allegedly preparing to sail to Australia illegally, police said.

They said the would-be illegally asylum seekers, who had come to the area yesterday, told police that some of them had paid over Rs.two lakhs to the alleged human traffickers for the illegal journey.

According to initial police investigations, nine of them were from Batticaloa while two were from Mullaitivu. (Hiran Priyankara-Puttalam)

When is this going to stop? Stupid Australians probably believe that these people are leaving because they are being prosecuted in SL.

I heard that some smugglers (LTTE) are paying people to take the boat trip and not the other way around.

Sri Lanka biggest gainer in Global Peace Index

Sri Lanka experienced the greatest improvement in its overall peacefulness following the ending of decades of civil war, according to the 2012 Global Peace Index released today.

Sri Lanka is ranked 103 overall and 17 in the Asia Pacific region, ahead of India (142), Pakistan (149) and Thailand (129).

Sri Lanka joins Philippines, Zimbabwe, Bhutan and Guyana in the list of top 5 countries that registered improvements in peacefulness in the 2012 Global Peace Index.

Sri Lanka s score improved markedly for the second successive year in the aftermath of the defeat of the Tamil Tigers and the ending of war in May 2009. From 2011 to 2012 Sri Lanka had jumped 27 places in the list, prepared by the Institute for Economics and Peace.

The GPI indicator of the number of deaths from organised (internal) conflict fell sharply in response to the fact that there were no casualties in 2010, compared with 15,565 in 2009. There were related declines in the homicide rate, the frequency of terrorist acts and the Political Terror Scale, it said.

No tamils, more peace

NeverAgain,

Will you ever learn. Look at one of the terrorist activities, how the funds are swindled?:

The main opposition UNP today charged that the government has to be held responsible for the huge losses incurred by Sri Lankan Airlines amounting to Rs. 24 billion largely triggered due to charter flights by VIPs.

Speaking to journalists, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said the government top brass used the national carrier Sri Lankan Airlines to visit more than 20 countries since mid-2010 and most of these flights had been chartered.

Adding to it, he said External Affairs Minister G. L. Peiris visited more than 15 countries during the past several months and millions of rupees spent on these visits had gone down the drain as they failed to bring fruitful results for the country. He recalled that the External Affairs Minister failed to defeat the UNHRC resolution brought on behalf of the country despite visits to many countries to win their support.

Also, he said Sri Lankan Airlines was one of the several monsters which ate up the country s economy. Mr. Attanayake said the CPC, Mihin Lanka, Sri Lanka Transport Board were some of these loss-making state institutions that have become monsters.
He said the CPC had not been able to give concessions to the people despite the reduction of prices in the global market because of its losses and wastage. (Yohan Perera and Nishan Casseem)

I accept your complement!

existence?

They came into being in the early seventees and not just in 1983. VP misled the whole bunch by killing few people including Jaffna mayor early on.

I do agree there were some discriminatory practices but it seems like tamils started the separatism well before British left. Besides there was never a reason for taking up arms.

We have had this discussion before. I guess we have to agree to disagree.
