election commissioner was on house arrest and Basil rajapakse was the election commissioner.

election results were sent to the minister before sending to the radio for broadcast.

Some valid votes for the common candidate were found thrown to garbage.

According to wikileaks cable, UNP+JVP together should have had 45% of the votes. that is without TNA and what General Fonseka alone would have got. But, at the end that did not materialize.

This is how money management in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka expat remittances for the last month is above $500 million. (more than the last tranche of IMF loan)
expat remittances is country's life line.

whether we like it or not country depends on these refugees to settle down in those countries and send back important $s back to Sri Lanka.
