A 70 year old woman was killed by her 35-year-old son by attacking her with a mammoty. She died of head injuries. The incident occurred in Kuruduwatte Dekatana yesterday morning. The deceased has been identified as W. Somawathie a mothers_day.jsp' class=black>mother of five.
The assailant was her youngest son. The motive for the killing was said to be a property issue. Pugoda Magistrate G.L. Priyantha visited he scene and conducted the magisterial inquiry.
The post-mortem was to be held at the Gampaha hospital yesterday evening. Police are hunting for the suspect who had fled the scene after the incident.
