First the GOVT - Prime Minister, Now Another Minister Admit about Govt - Drug Dealers.

Tuesday, 29 May 2012 - 12:42 AM SL Time

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena admits there are criminals and drug dealers in his party.

He was shown on television, Monday night, speaking at an event saying at times as the SLFP General Secretary he has not been too happy.

This, he says is because there have been criminals including rapists, drug dealers and others in the party which is now governing the country.

Sirisena however did not mention names but said among those criminals are Ministers and Deputy Ministers.

The SLFP has been accused in recent times of protecting Minister Mervin Silva and MP Duminda Silva despite both having serious allegations against their names.

Mervin Silva is known to have links with the underworld and drug dealers while Duminda Silva is facing murder charges.

Prez Rajapaske has appointed another career criminal Lohan Ratwatte as SLFP Kandy organiser. Why is Rajapaske so insecure that he resorts to corruption, violence and thuggery to win elections?

One must not forget Mahinda Rajapakse was a politically insignificant for 40 odd years. To be appointed as a Prez candidate was hitting the jackpot. The man is obviously scared of losing it all soon. Unfortunately from a human point of view nothing ever lasts.

What he needs to do is use the opportunity he was blessed with for doing good. It also means being fair and ethical when conducting elections.

with all the thugs, media, 18A under his belt MR has 20% votes by default. if anybody want to beat MR, he need to get 70% of votes, then only the opposition would win by 50%.

SO MR is secure for his lifetime unless a 70% landslide win comes to the opposition.

as per our LNP intelligent kaush since nobody is filing any case these are just rumours. (government don't have to put a case against these culprits)

As for some LNPers just becuase one or Sirisena says something it doesn't become the gospel truth.

With the LTTE gone, the biggest problem we face is corruption and disregard for law and order, perpetrated by no one else but our government. All the government has to do is clean themselves up, but they don't seem to be doing that. Maybe it is because they don't need to, as long as they can tell people that we are still threatened by separatist movements, people will keep voting for them and at the same time making deals with China provides us well needed monetary relief.

So in order to remove these elements from the government, what can we do? Protest? That's not going to work. Find the government people another source of revenue other than that from corrupt deals? How? Even the corruption is ok, if we have law and order in the country, which means not having down right criminals get away free. How do we bring a balance? I'm telling you this government is making a big mistake by not drawing a line between corruption and criminal activity. What is going to happen is more and more people will feel those things, and that is the way in for outsiders to meddle in our affairs. The longer the government sits and watches how far they can get away with people like Mervyn, Duminda etc... the more vulnerable they are making Sri Lanka to outside influence. Where else would the people go when their own government refuses to bring about law and order, and have dirty drug dealers, rapists and murderers go free. They don't know where to draw the line between utter criminality and corruption. Reflects poorly on their class to be honest and at the same time the class of the majority of the people who vote for them happily knowing now that the LTTE is gone and we should be giving more prominence to other issues that are stopping us from progressing.
