An Indian real estate company is to develop Colombo s tallest residential tower designed by world renowned architect Moshe Safdie, in the 10 acre land previous belonging to the Colombo Commercial Company near Beira Lake.

Moshe Safdie How the surrounding area would look like with the tower

Indocean Developers (Pvt) Ltd, a venture of Indian property group South City Projects (Kolkata) Pvt. Ltd. (SCPKL), has acquired two acres of this land to build a high-end, eco-friendly 65-storey condominium tower.

According to a statement by Indocean, the exclusive residential tower is looking to target expatriates, non-resident Sri Lankans and high networth individuals among others. In-house facilities will include a swimming pool, gymnasium, lounge, function room, play area for children, tennis courts etc. Located opposite Beira Lake, the 400-apartment development with topof-line finishes by Indocean is expected to be launched shortly, with piling work commencing in August.

Established in 2000, Kolkata-based SCPKL is one of the largest property groups in India. SCPKL has an impressive track record developing large-scale residential and commercial projects, including the record-making, tallest South City residential tower in Kolkata, and the South City shopping mall covering a million sq.ft, making it the largest mall in the country, also in Kolkata. In addition, the company has built numerous IT Parks, industrial estates and townships in Chennai, Hyderabad, across Gujarat and in Kolkata.

According to the Indocean statement, SCPKL has commissioned world renowned architect Moshe Safdie and his team at Safdie Architects to design the iconic tower near the Beira Lake.

At 65-storeys, the building will be the tallest in Colombo, and is to be Moshe Safdie s first project in Sri Lanka, it said. Moshe Safdie doesn t need much of an introduction. Among the recent creations by the versatile architect, urban planner, educator, theorist, and author is the muchadmired Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort in Singapore. A building which has not only defined the country s skyline but also has substantially increased visitor arrivals to the island-nation, thereby giving the economy a great boost. The Urban Development Authority (UDA) of Colombo, supported by foreign fundst, is in advanced stages of developing the shoreline around Beira Lake.

Situated in the heart of the Sri Lankan capital, the man-made lake is already surrounded by major productive use buildings such as offices, hotels, shopping malls, apartments, banks and commercial and leisure establishments.

I think, this idiot is still drunk using Black label

If Sarath Fonseka calls for the withdrawal of Security Forces camps from the North he is indirectly inviting foreign countries to meddle in Sri Lanka s internal affairs, said Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

Who made everything international, when your King had chance to negotiate?

24 +8 countries are dictating and directly invited by your KING.

A United Nations human-rights body adopted a United States-sponsored resolution Thursday seeking to investigate alleged human rights abuses by Sri Lankan forces during its 26-year civil war. Of the 47-member U.N. Human Rights Council, 24 nations backed the resolution (including India), 15 rejected the proposal and eight abstained from voting.

Sarath Fonseka says he will extend his support to even the present regime if it honestly sets about to ridding the country of evil.

He says it is unimportant for him to consider who the president or the prime minister of an honest regime are.

Mr. Fonseka was speaking to the media after calling on Most Ven. Weweldeniye Medhalankara Mahanayake Thera in Mirigama yesterday (May 25).

He said all should unite against the corrupt regime, where only one person is the king.

The ex-Army chief said that certain government politicians have not comprehended that war crimes allegations should be answered in a responsible manner.
