If you are concerned about corruption,following is the corruption that should be reported. This corruption is FIRST FAMILY LINKED.

The television rights of the Sri Lankan cricket team s matches for the territory of Sri Lanka have been offered to sports channel Carlton Sports Network (CSN) for three years from 2012 to 2015, Sri Lanka Cricket President Upali Dharmadasa said yesterday.
CSN had been the only bidder for the local TV rights in response to advertisements SLC published in January in local newspapers and also on their website, so the SLC Sponsorship committee which met yesterday decided to grant it to CSN, Dharmadasa added.
Earlier last month, the SLC Executive Committee also approved CSN s bid of Rs. 125 million for the three years.

What I meant was, under this system exec. prez has limitless power. There are no checks and balances. Any mortal will easily succumb to its power and soon starts abusing it. it happened with JR, RP, CBK and now MR. if SF becomes prez, he too will start abusing it. They will earn for generations and leave the country it shambles, irrespective of how good they did initially. See what happened to MR. first and second terms are like two different people. We need to be against this system, rather than against the individual because whoever comes to power will soon start abusing it.

See what happened to MR. first and second terms are like two different people. We need to be against this system, rather than against the individual because whoever comes to power will soon start abusing it.
ditto that, without changing the system mere change of individuals will not lead to anything! |

Every day, some kind of hundreds of millions worth high Way Robbery reported.
There is law enforcement,justice or investigations on those.
Legal - Thefts continue.
Joe Public wants to Danuna to come to face the LAw.
SF knows very well how the Kangaroo system worked. So, he should send his son-in-law too.
Blame dead JRJ. that will settle everything.
Even with 2/3rd power and 19th amendment, if every body in the govt and linked to govt STEAL, Everybody should go including the system. |

Sri Lanka imports Fertilizer from outside and with that SUBSIDIZED fertilizer, exports MAIZE back.
What good business plan is that ?

Even with 18th amendment, 2/3rd power, president cannot STOP almost daily occurence of GOVT-THEFTS.
Think about if the WAR Against LTTE was conducted the same way.
SF could have lived by blaming the former Army commanders saying one of them had screwed up everything.
Everybody may have helped. But, finally it was the army which took the major brunt and crushed LTTE. |

You should ask what Basil used to do before he came back to Sri Lanka.
They are stealing left and right. No one here is talking about the terms of the $500 million USD bond issued last month and about the $500 million USD about to mature in October.
The majority of people in Sri Lanka have no clue on the financial mismanagement and outright corruption taking place at the highest places in the government. As Sinthaka pointed very correctly, unless the Executive Presidency is abolished, the next person will also get corrupted by all that power. JRJ did the maximum damage to the future of Sri Lanka by introducing that Republican Constitution. The net effect is the people are not voting in a President who is accountable to them, but, a King accountable to no one until the next election.
Until the Constitution is reformed (or changed) and you have a system of checks and balances in balance, nothing really is going to change. The real problem is not with the people who come to power, but, it is with the system in place that breeds corruption and makes the President above the Law of the Land.
