N/A,
You are right. One of the bends has been removed which was due to the widening of the road. The scenic beauty is still there. I used to travel those days along this road when Manampitiya was under water, when coming to Kandy from Maduru Oya and it was horrendous. It took nearly 4 hours. Now they say the trip can me made in an hour and a half.

Development of what?
A prediction: Another article such as this could trigger suicidal thoughts among LNP's dogging community, giving rise to the first non-LTTE suicide bomber.

open the renovated, ancient 18 Bend(Dahata Wanguwa) road on Kandy Mahiyangana road. The renovation work cost of Rs.5,000 million.
Before the renovations vehicles tumbled down the slopes as manouverability was the issue. Now speed is the issue and the road reported it's first fatality even before the road was opened.
However fantastic job, and it's a breeze for careful drivers but a death knell for the reckless idiots.

Improve the road to improve my family wealth
One million dollars for km even in the west for very high standard road, with very low labour in SL it will not cost more than $200,000 for km. Where the rest of the money is went? family trust in Swiss Bank.

Sri Lanka has the best tea in the world. Everyone else is using CEYLON TEA words to market their products anyway, SriLanka could not capitalize on it's tea market.
coconut is also very useful, every part of the tree. Even that is going down the road as they used that lands to build houses and began exporting new vegetable oils from overseas.
