May 1945 marked the end of WWII. 64 years later, May 2009 marked the end of the 30 year war in Sri Lanka.
The victorious Allies remember the VE day as a supreme moment of vindication and joy just like the victorious Sri Lankans remember May 2009.
According to historian Keith Lowe, for tens of millions of people, VE day marked not the end of a bad dream, but the end of one nightmare and the beginning of another.

As Keith Lowe argues with regard to WWII, will May 2009 mark the end of one nightmare and the beginning of another in SL? I hope and pray not. |

Not only SL but this forum too has gone to dogs. When a person refer to another person's ugliness in public, that is a classic demonstration of his poor upbringing or his lack of values.
This woman is somebody's loving daughter, somebody's loving mother and nobody has a right to call her ugly. Thats simply so immoral!
But he calls himself a proud Sinhalese and by doing so he is bringing the whole nation down to dogs.

The Ranmuthugala Certified School for Girls under the Commissioner of Probation and Child Care of the Western Province is a powder-keg awaiting an imminent explosion, for the inmates are doing as they please while those-in-charge look on impotently. When complaints from neighbourhood residents led the Sunday Times last Monday to the gates of the Certified School, there was what seemed like a stampede, with several girls climbing the gate to shout out whether we were from the police.
