AnuD,

CHARLIE: That is why I say tge parliament need completely new blood. That is why I said that the GENERAL FONSEKA is good. But, you objected to that.

Now I agree with you. I thought after the war MR.R and company would be dedicated to the country. Regards to SF, due to his inexperience in politics and I was misinformed about his several actions( white flag, conspiracy to over throw the government..etc) gave me to mistrust him.

Unfortunately, What MR.R did for last 3 years, consolidate and safe guard his power putting his opponent SF in jail for synthetics, artificial charges (realized very late) destroyed all opposition parties and some of their members were bribed with money and ministerial positions.
100% country's economy control by MR.R and Bros. 100% security forces control by MR.R and BRO. Almost 75% foreign services control by MR.R and BROS and their close relatives.

3 years MR.R did not have time to find a solution that UNHRC has to involved with Srilanka's internal issues and forced their resolution. Even MR.R's trusted friend India turned back to him.

WHY? WHY? WHY?

Check the history to see how many have died because of religious conflicts - crusades and conquests.

Conflicts and wars are as old as human history. The Crusades between the Christians and Muslims took place about a 1000 years ago. Have there been any other religious conflicts since then?

Was religion behind the blood-baths in the last century starting with WWI where hundreds of millions have been killed and maimed and thousands of trillions of dollars went up in flames?

Crusades, Jihads, Conquests - Are those in books, On the other hand both books talk about killing infidels.

You have not answered my question as to whether you have read the Quran, Bible and Torah. Now, can you quote me the chapter and verse of the Books which talk about killing the infidels?

Because, you live in Sri Lanka and Buddhists allow you to convert as you please.

So, both muslims and christians have easy time.

This does not answer my point
Therefore, to say religions equal disharmony is an opinion plucked from the air.

In response to your observation above, we had to face a debilitating 30 year terrorist war, but was religion behind it?

But, a solution to the underlying cause is being made difficult by those claiming to be Sinhala Buddhists and Tamil extremists. Does that mean Buddhism encourages conflict?

Seven of Sri Lanka s largest State Owned Enterprises (SOE) have incurred a combined loss of a staggering Rs.151.5 billion in 2011 with treasury bonds amounting to Rs. 55 billion issued by the government in January 2012 to settle accumulated outstanding dues to CPC from CEB and other SOEs, the 2011 Annual Report of the Central Bank reveal.

Accordingly, operating losses suffered by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), SriLankan Airlines, Department of Posts, Sri Lanka Transport Board, Sri Lanka Railways and Mihin Air stood at Rs. 94 bn, Rs. 25.5bn, Rs. 19.1 bn, Rs. 4.6 bn, Rs. 3.8bn, Rs. 4.1 bn and Rs. 0.45 bn respectively.

However, on a more positive note, both the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) and the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWS&DB) recorded operating profits of Rs. 8.3 bn and Rs. 1.9 bn respectively.

The main contributory factors for the financial losses of CPC were the provision of heavy fuel at a highly subsidised rate to CEB and Independent Power Producers, and non-adjustment of prices in line with international oil prices during the year, CBSL highlighted stating that CPC s losses increased substantially from Rs. 27 billion in 2010 to Rs. 94 billion.

It stated that the outstanding trade receivables amounting to Rs. 115 billion by end 2011 from various government entities had placed a heavy burden on CPC s financial position.

Meanwhile, the CEB recorded an operating loss of Rs. 25.5 billion in 2011 compared to a profit of Rs. 4.8 billion reported in 2010. According to CBSL, the higher dependence on thermal power due to dry weather conditions that prevailed during the second half of 2011 was the main reason for the deterioration in the financial position of CEB where the fuel bill of CEB increased sharply by 54 percent to Rs. 25 billion in 2011.

High fuel prices and lower yields due to increased competition contributed to the increase in operating expenditure of SriLankan Airlines, CBSL Annual Report outlined. Meanwhile, the operating profit of the SLPA increased by 89 percent to Rs. 8.3 billion compared to Rs. 4.4 billion in 2010 whilst compared to the revised financial data of 2010 excluding the revaluation deficit NWS&DB reported an operational profit of Rs. 1.9 billion in 2011.
Total losses at CPC, CEB and SriLankan Airlines stood at Rs.138.6 billion in 2011.

Indications are that there is a politician s hand behind the theft of valuable artefacts at the Colombo National Museum recently, Divaina reports.

An assistant director who had been in charge of the artefacts has given a statement to the CID, is closely connected to this politician, according to reliable sources.

The politician in question had visited the museum and observed the artefacts sometime before they were stolen.

Investigations so far have shown that the theft could not have been possible without the help of an insider, as some of the artefacts had been removed after opening the safes with the keys.

The Department of Archaeology has estimated the value of the stolen items at Rs. four million.
