I m sure it happens more often than we would like to see it. Note however that this doesn t make the Daily Noise more trustworthy than Tamilnut for example! Well, we could push the reasoning into another direction. Wouldn t any information on Dyan be more trustworthy in the Sri Lankan Guardian than in The Island, for example?

I don't believe any opinion columns nor editorials. Only factual news can be believed, the rest is either propaganda of one form or other. But going back to that one news source that I happen to know generates lies, that news source is an absolute joke and it is more like a tabloid than a newspaper and the people who write the english version at least need to take a language course or two.

Sounds like you also know too well how things are going in our Foreign Missions. Again, it s a mix of good people with positions that are perfectly justified, but also many others who are just here because they know someone at the right place .

It s certainly true that factual news is more likely to be true than what s in opinion columns or editorials, but I guess it also depends on who writes it. It also approaches one particular problem from a different angle. For example: during the war the journalist who impressed me by far the most was the defense columnist for the Sunday Times, Icqbal Athas with his famous situation report. Thanks to him all of us got an idea of what was really going on. We all remember by whom he was threatened after revealing various corruption cases (MIG 27 from Ukraine etc.). At least CNN recognized his outstanding skills and I m very pleased for him.
