I do not understand why the whole SL would send chills up through their spine. They lived happily in many areas (I heard there is a place called 'tamil nadu' in Colombo!)
My dear friend you can only appreciate what I say when you are in that position. I don't blame you for that because one has to go through such experiences or fears.
It is true after 1983 we never had any organised anti-tamil violence in the south. But this was adequately compensated in the N&E.
Security does not mean physical security or nothing happens to one but the 'State of Mind' and the 'feeling of being secure'!. You may say that not even Sinhalese are not safe in that case in the south, I agree, but they are not picked out on ethnic grounds so there is a difference. Most tamils even today, wherever they live don't have the 'emotional well being of being secure'. This is what I meant.
You live in the US where there is so much of violence yet you feel secure simply because they are not going to pick you out as NeverAgain and then attack. I live in Australia and I certainly feel secure here than being in SL simply because they are not going to pick me out as a wanted individual!
Many tamils even in the south lives a very basic existence simply because of the lack of 'secure feeling'. After Geneva Fiasco they were worried of a back lash and even this was promoted by some politicians but I know that sinhalese are more wiser today than in 1983.
So despite tamils live in the south (and even the N&E) yet they lead a very insecure and uncertain life.
Until this happens there will be turmoil and SL will never ever be able to attain its potential. You could see how things are going so bad even for the Sinhalese. |

Rather than organizing protests and demanding the high salary
Did they ever advice their union members to work hard and increase the productivity...???
