Apr 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka media focused public attention to the absence of Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawansa at the cabinet meetings in the past few weeks.

Minister Weerawansa was notably absent also at the last cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, sources said.

Recently, the vociferous Minister urged the public to boycott US products and services. He also vowed to mobilize people against the United States following the US-sponsored resolution on Sri Lanka that was adapted at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) last month.

However the government of Sri Lanka alienated itself from Minister Weerawansa's statements and said they were his personal views.

Ha..ha. You sound like as if free education was a bad thing.

In the current form is a bad thing. This is doing more harm to the middle and lower income families than what theyrealize. If higher education was privatized there would be lower level of dropouts after A/L.

Individual cases do not matter. As is if a person living in SL does not use the public system he has no other system other than going out of the country. So the problem is the system and not the individual.

Canada and SL are apples and oranges.

That is because Sri Lanka has made it that way. Blame should go to the voter. In a country where literacy rate is around 95% they vote like idiots.

On another note, Tamils think their savior are the western countries

Why do you think its a bad thing? I think this is the problem with SL they are looking upto the failed states not the successful ones.
