The govt should have given a reasonable grace period before the taxes take effect. If the govt has not done that the dealer should address the issue with a seperate line item on the invoice so the customer knows what he paid as taxes and has the ability to check.
This time We knew about the increase month ago unlike last time government did not give any indication at all.

EP
but the other bikes are imported from Japan.
99.9% new bikes are from India! 99.9% 3wheelers are from India.
The government will study the movements of the Vehicle imports and act accordingly.
Who's going to buy from dealers when you can buy much cheaper from a private seller. But now it will be a different case.
WTF ? What are you smoking man ? Do you know the demand for vehicles here ? If fking private sellers can supply the demand , why people wait months in lists to get a new car ?
Forget cars, what about the poor mans vehicle ? The only affordable vehicle with a roof for a ordinary family was the 3 wheeler. which was Rs 385000.00 now 530000.00 .This will be like 600000 when it hits the road now. Fuel efficient commuter bikes were increased by 30000 - 40000. there is no justification for this man. this is utter bankruptcy of the govt which cannot shield the poor man from getting over taxed.
And you talk about Navara Vigo trucks which has 2800CC+ engines, do you know any fker exporting under 1300CC vehicles from Europe ? enough said.
Truth is the mismanagement at every level of the government destroyed the balance of the economy and now we are in a state to tax the little mans 3wheeler and bike. Stop trying to defend it. there is no justification for this madness. Im not taking this issue only , but all recent developments .

Fake Russian ignored this part....:)) :))
Asked if non-compliance could result in the UNHRC applying pressure, Mikhaylov said: 'This is not a Security Council resolution, so I don t think that s possible. The Sri Lankan government understands and is also capable of conforming to international laws on its own. There is no need for external force or threats.'
'A political solution needs to be found to the ethnic issue,' the ambassador said.
Asked if by political solution he meant devolution of power, Mikhaylov said: 'No. That is an internal matter which you ll have to decide on. But, whatever the model it has to be acceptable to all communities. The wounds are still very fresh. It takes time to heal. Too much pressure is not good. Rushed formulas will not be durable. It should grow from among the people.'

Still wrong there is no 2.4l hilux or 3.2l Engines. there is 2.5l which is 2497cc or 3.0L 2997cc come from UK
What's wrong with putting the taxes up to control the stock??
Personally I should be upset because I send Vehicles to SL.
marksman -- there is nothing to cover up the government on this. If the people don't import the Vehicles due to tax the government going to lose out.Increase in taxes does not mean government is going to gain other than losing. But this is necessary to control the Vehicle stocks. Sri lanka has more Vehicle than they can handle.
So stick to a subject you know..

Idiot pimpia,
Where did I ignore or say it's security council resolution?
Asked if non-compliance could result in the UNHRC applying pressure, Mikhaylov said: 'This is not a Security Council resolution, so I don t think that s possible. The Sri Lankan government understands and is also capable of conforming to international laws on its own. There is no need for external force or threats.'
USA and EU do not seek or care whether they need UN security council approval or not, they will enforce trade sanction against Srilanka.
What ever Ambassador in Srilanka says to calm down fools like you,
I again and again stand on my words.
Russia is not so happy with Srilanka's leadership........ Srilankan Ambassador in Moscow visited three times to meet F/M Lavrov regards to UNHRSC issue.
