The President has said that the Indians had reduced his brother, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, to the level of a joker.

Basil has asked permission from the President to visit India as the government s special envoy to re-build the soured relations between India and Sri Lanka after India voted in favor a US backed resolution on Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. The President has refused to grant permission to Basil s request.

The President had reminded Basil of the statement made by him to the Cabinet before the vote that India would never vote against Sri Lanka and would abstain from voting if the situation was really serious. Basil had told the Cabinet that he had been informed through high-level links about this matter.

Basil had remained silent when the President had ridiculed him and had said that India does not want to speak to any Rajapaksa and that the Indian High Commission in Colombo had informed that the Sri Lankan government could send External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris if needed.

BRICS SUMMIT DEFENDS DIALOGUE FOR SYRIA, IRAN

The world s biggest emerging powers on Thursday said dialogue was the only answer to the crises in Syria and Iran, seeking to buttress their economic heft with a unified diplomatic clout.

Russia and China -- which both wield vetoes on the UN Security Council -- have stridently opposed using force or outside intervention to resolve the Syrian crisis or defuse Iran s nuclear drive.

The United States and its allies have been frustrated by a Sino-Russian veto in the Security Council on condemning Syria in stronger terms.


I don't think Tamil betta Damed can read English. He was saying that that Russia & China voted for the resolution against Syria & Russia.This Tamil Betta Damed is a fool & Charlie is Swallowing batta lies without even chewing them..
