Another UNHRC Resolution against Sinhala lanka will be very harsh & a Big SLap on their faces...
Those resolutions will be directly going in to the bin as UNHRC does not have any powers to implement economic sanctions on any country. Sanctions or military actions on another country can only be done by the UN secutity council and all 5 members of the UN security have to agree to carry out any action. China and Russia are 2 members out of 5.

The problem has very little to do with race but the ability of the individuals ability to deal with the subject.
UNHRC does not have any powers to implement economic sanctions on any country.
UNHRC as a main branch of the UN has the ability but its not possible because of block voting, and most resolutions are watered down in order of win. What resolution does is gives individual countries the moral highground to make decisions like sanctions against, Iran, Siriya etc.

UNHRC resolution shows that local mechanism LLRC has failed & Madapakshe can take a Hague ride sooner rather than later thanks to ICC Court...!
ICC Court is designed to complement existing national judicial systems: it can exercise its jurisdiction only when national courts are unwilling or unable to investigate or prosecute such crimes.

Calm down! USA and EU can make their own sanctions without UNHRC. Do not forget 0ver 61% of Srilanka's export income coming from USA and EU. |

This is something 2.50 deshapremi's don't understand. Most of its so called friends are exporting countries and not importing countries. China being a very rich country does not give much aid but loans and imports minimum in finished goods and SL does not have the raw material Chinks want.

USA and UK don't need authority from UN to touch any one militarly. We did see this in Yougslovia where NATO acted independent of UN, we also saw this in Iraq. Leaving military action aside USA and UK have taken enough action against Syria and Iran the process is slow and you dont see bombs falling but the damage is material.

This is not a USA or UK resolution. This is a UNHRC resolution which has no powers to implement sanctions.
If you listen to GL Peiris he make the confusions clear.
Economic sanctions cannot be imposed on Sri Lanka through the resolution that was adopted at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris said at a press conference today (26). Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Environment Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Minister of Commerce and Industries Rishad Badurdeen also attended the briefing. They need the approval of the UN security counsel and this was on BBC news often UK blaming Russia and China for their non corporation. Or otherwise this will lead to a world war.
The problem with Gddafi was he did not have the backing of China or Russia.

UN vote is required only if its going to be a UN operation. Countries of the willing was not a UN operation but the job was done.
Currently there is enough sanctions against Syria, Iran by USA, EU etc. These are country specific and does not need UN or Chikns, Russians or Indians. |
