Modayas want to mess up things some more. First let them clean their garbage before worrying about others. SL had committed very serious crimes against humanity, both against Tamils and Sinhalese, and they have to answer that first before talking about others faults. First let us sort out the happenings in vanni and then we will worry about others.

These idiots to rectify one mistake they make 10 mistakes.

In what seems like a major development, Sri Lanka has expressed its commitment to raise India s human rights violations in the occupied Kashmir at the UN. Although the Sri Lankan government stated that this was a tit for tat because New Delhi had voted in favour of a US sponsored resolution against the country for its crackdown on Tamil insurgents, it would still help boost the Kashmiri intifada.

It is definitely through such international condemnation that New Delhi can be ultimately pressurised into giving up the occupation. That Sri Lanka has taken a stand means a lot, especially when not many countries are willing to talk about a territory that New Delhi has come to assume as its integral part. The atrocities that the Indian forces have been committing normally are ignored by the Western media. Even the recent discovery of mass graves in the valley that contained thousands of mutilated bodies of innocent Kashmiris did not get the coverage that it deserved. What is, however, sham

Thank you for your response to my email. I am not familiar with the article you cite but to the extent it glosses over facts critical to the Burgher, Sinhala, Ceylon Tamil, Indian Tamil and Muslim people it is extremely misleading. You, however, raise important issues to which I will attempt to respond.

Prior to May 2009 my role was to inform and educate Canadian policy makers about the very complex ground realities in Sri Lanka and Canada as it related to the conflict culminating in the conveyance between August 27 and December 22, 2008 of three ceasefire offers to the LTTE through their proxies in Toronto. On May 16, 2009 when the LTTE said they would accept the same terms it was far too late. Feel free to check this out with David Poolapalapillai and Sri Bhavan Sri Skandha Rajah aka Dr. Sri as well as with journalists Namini Wijedasa and Frederica Jansz. I can also personally vouch that the late Marie Colvin and Palitha Kohona did agree that Pulidevan, Nadesan, his Sinhala wife, and other could walk towards the army lines with the largest white cloth available .

The issues as you seem to suggest were simply never about Tamils and Sinhalese. Rather, they were about very privileged Sinhalese/Tamils versus Sinhalese/Tamils who did not have the privileges and opportunities that my school mates such as Anura Bandaranayake, Mike Muller, Gajan Pathmanathan, Ana Ananadalingam, Imtiaz Backeer Markar, Hilary Sansoni, T.K. Azoor, Devinda Subasinghe and I had. It was about kaduwa (the sword of English that cut down/prevented the children of Kekirawa and Siyabalaanduwa from any opportunity) that led to the JVP uprisings in 1971 and 1989-90. It was about the Sinhala Only act that not only disenfranchised Tamils but also Sinhalese like my father who was forced to resign as GM of the State Mortgage Bank because he could not operate in Sinhala. It was about the nationalization of Catholic schools, Gal Oya, Sirima-Shasthri pact,........

In a globalized world the concept of one own land is largely irrelevant. What do you think white Canadians must think when they see the influx of Sri Lankans, Sikhs, Chinese, Phillipinos, Somalis, etc to Markham, Brampton, Scarborough and Islington/Albion. Have we not invaded their lands? I do not patronize Chinese or Tamil restaurants that do not have menus in English as well.

There have been vibrant Tamil and Muslim communities in many parts of Sri Lanka - Galle, Kalpitiya, Negambo, Pottuvil, Matara, Kandy, and of course Colombo to name a few. There has been a Sinhala presence, albeit sometimes just a token presence, in most of the previously inhabited areas of Ceylon. Station masters, drivers and guards were largely Burgher and Tamil while other railway workers came from all but the Muslim community. Many GA s and AGA s in the South and North were Tamil.

Last month I spent a week in Jaipur and a week in Kerala. The contrast could not have been greater. Jaipur is a filthy, impoverished, overcrowded place stuck in its pre-Raj past of palaces and Tiger shoots. Kerala is about almost all the people speaking Malayalam, Hindi and English and the kids in addition, speaking Tamil, Marati and Gujarati and studying IT, medicine and nursing. To them belongs the future.

Col. Ghadafi thought that he could rely on China and Russia till they refused to veto NATO airstrikes. President Assad thought he could rely on Russia and China and resisted the Arab League proposals crafted by Kofi Anan for a ceasefire. Just in the last two days Russia and China have both changed their positions and thrown their weight behind Kofi Anan. The US and Gulf states have openly announced that they are supplying non-lethal aid to the rebels while in actual fact arms too are being supplied to the rebels. The economic and travel sanctions aimed at the Syrian elite will hurt even Assad s British born/citizen wife. In September, Mahinda was refused permission to seek medical treatment in Texas. Gota will never be able to live as a US citizen again. The Americans gave a clear message to SL by waiting for a full year before informing the U.S. Federal Court that Shavendra Silva was entitled to diplomatic immunity. Three of our MP s are in SL right now laying out the terms for our Prime Minister s attendance at the 2013 Commonwealth summit.

After being the best performing market in Asia in 2010 the Colombo Index was the worst performer in 2011. SL s GDP to debt ratio is approaching that of Greece. Growth of 7.5% is illusory when inflation is almost 10%. If Israel were to attack Iran it will engulf the whole Gulf (no pun intended!) and as happened with the invasion of Kuwait there will be a mass return of workers and a catastrophic loss of foreign remittances which is the second largest source of foreign exchange.

People I have met in the North and East are tired of war and deprivation. They want what you and I want a better future for their children. They want the army to leave. We cannot let them down. We need to be engaged. Just today a Sinhala lawyer from UK who had read my email asked me to raise $7,000 to donate a complete set of law books for the Batticoloa law library. (Jaffna received the first set). They are doing the same across the country. The rule of law and judicial institutions have been two of the biggest victims of the conflict. Hospitals and schools need to be restored and re-stocked. Forget about regime change, TNA, UNP and Mervyn focus on what matters. To paraphrase John F Kennedy, ask what we can do for Sri Lanka

Best personal regards,

Viresh

Do you know Buddhism is not a religion but a way of life taken out from Hinduism ?

Tamils knew better about Buddhism than the Sinhalese. However the ugly Sinhala Buddhism tortured the virtues of Lord Buddha's genuine philosophy and relegated all elements to a rowdy behaviour.

Today, the Sinhala Buddhism has come back to bite the hypocrites in their ass through China. The best endowment ever enjoyed by the Sinhala Buddhist cult.

If Lord Buddha was alive , he would make achcharu with Mahinda's balls for deceiving the nation for perpetuating his amount of lies even after defeat at the feet of Truth.

The Four leaves on the Sri lankan flag stands for the Four truths of Buddha. Ask that buggar Mahinda to follow the truths symbolizing Buddha. Mahinda is the biggest Traitor of all.

Fairplay,

You are getting mixed up.

Haven't you read the edited version of Mahavamsa?

The SL Buddism is entirely different to what Buddha had preached.

You don't get the point malli.

It is not about representing the country but misrepresenting the country by appointing good for nothing jokers and war criminals as ambassadors as a gratitude by Maama and also to help maama's relatives and friends to have good time abroad at the public expense.

Of course without these clowns the country may do well but that is the not the point here.
