Free Landing At New Mahinda s Airport
Giving free landing & parking rights for 'ONE YEAR' may not end there.
I think it may go beyond that...
Wait & see what will happen next.
Sri Lanka is a too small country to have 2 international airports.
For the moment the Katunayaka international airport is working efficiently. No major complaints from passengers or airline companies.
Much changes have been done at the Katunayaka airport, spending millions of rupees for the comfort of passengers and the safety of airlines.
Sri Lanka does not get too many planes to divert to another airport.
When I come back to my Motherland for a holiday, and if I can choose my 'airport of arrival' I will choose the Katunayake and not the Mattala airport.
Unless the airport authority offers me a free chopper ride to Colombo's city airport of Ratmalana (lol!!), I will not decide to take a bus ride to Colombo, spending much time on the road after a long flight!
The new highway linking the BIA to Colombo is progressing well for quick hop to Colombo.
I think I am not the only person to think like this.
Soon it will be a fight (& not a flight! lol) between the Bandaranaike and the Rajapakse clans...for the airports!

simply, if they don't talk english they don't get employment.
There is no law as such, although most can speak some english. If you go to places like Miami or LA, I am sure many officers who do not speak good english. It is practical to have someone who can speak what the locals speak.
The problem I think is that, the tamils should know sinhalese and vice versa. I see that SLBC is broadcasting in all three languages now. Many tamil songs being played. |
