Since the Eastern Provincial Council was formed the Province has developed remarkably. I was a member of the LTTE for eight years and we didn t achieve anything but destruction. The political leadership in the North is not bothered about the welfare of its own people. Therefore we cannot expect anything under a merged North-East Province.
The people in the East should decide on their future and the Northern political leadership cannot dictate terms to them.

Some 1600 Tamils are to be recruited to the Police Force working in the North East, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa said. During a meeting with Ambassador Yasushi Akashi, Japan s Special Representative to Sri Lanka in Tokyo, Mr. Rajapaksa said that initiatives have been taken to recruit 1600 Tamil nationals to the Police Force working in the North and East . See what happens to Latinos and Blacks in america refuse to talk in english instead want to talk in Spanish and Zulu.
