Financial sanctions by US on Central Bank of Sri lanka likely-report

Sri Lanka is among eleven countries which may be subjected to American financial sanctions for failing to cut on oil imports from Iran, Russia Today newspaper revealed.

The US State Department has revealed the list of 12 countries including Sri Lanka. The number of countries was mentioned earlier on Tuesday, as Washington announced a penalty waiver for Japan and 10 EU counties which complied with American demands and reduced their purchases. However, the names of the countries were not given.

Four of the countries on America s anger list are among top 100 buyers of Iranian crude. They are China, India, South Korea and South Africa, with the first two being the two largest buyers.

Also targeted by possible financial sanctions are Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Turkey.

US President Barack Obama may order banks based in those countries and involved in oil trade with Iran to be cut off America s financial system. On the other hand, he may exempt some of them from sanctions, if US national security demands it. So America s allies like South Korea or Pakistan may dodge repercussions.

Ambassador met with Minister of Disaster Relief and Human Rights Mahinda Samarasinghe January 30 to share with him a list of suggested actions the Government could take to address the human rights situation. The deeply frustrated Minister (strictly protect throughout) expressed concern that the President and his two brothers have rendered his human rights and humanitarian access efforts ineffective and that he would not sacrifice his political career to become part of a white wash for the Government of Sri Lanka s (GSL) recent human rights violations.Ambassador invited the Minister to participate in a press conference with several other heads of mission to express support for the good work that NGOs do for the citizens of Sri Lanka and counter the recent negative publicity international NGOs have been subject to. Minister Samarasinghe agreed, and asked that Ambassador also take his humanitarian message directly to President Rajapaksa. the US Embassy Colombo informed Washington.

earlier it was GL Pieris complaining, now Samarasinghe...

Pimpiya,

I know that you will come down to your typical sinhala low level!!

Pimpia takes Mervin brand Extasy (Ecstasy)

Do You Know... Ecstasy

Street Name: E, XTC, Adam, the love drug
What is it?

The chemical name for ecstasy is 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or MDMA. The chemical structure and the effects of MDMA are similar to amphetamine (a stimulant) and to mescaline (a hallucinogen).

Animal research has established that ecstasy use can damage the brain cells that release serotonin. Research on humans is limited, but there is some evidence to suggest that ecstasy can damage the cells and chemistry of the human brain, affecting functions such as learning and memory.

The risk of damage caused by ecstasy use may be linked to the amount taken and the frequency of use. However, some research suggests that even occasional use of small amounts of ecstasy may damage the brain cells that release serotonin, and that these effects may be long lasting. It is not known whether these effects may be permanent.

You see the problems with Dr. gajan de extacy Silva, Astro, cut and paste pig...etc who use Mervin brand extacy.

The government today denied the United Nations charge of intimidating pro-Tamil activists at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

'UN has got its wires crossed,' Sri Lanka President's Internal Media Spokesperson Bandula Jayasekara said reacting to the allegations.

The UN human rights commissioner's office has accused Sri Lankan delegates of intimidating NGO activists with what it calls 'unacceptable levels of threats and harassment'. The activists, many of whom work in Sri Lanka, were present at the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
