Their doing well in education is due to hard work and determination and also is a cultural behaviour. This is why at one time the 'majority' brought in that tamils had to score more marks than the Sinhalese to enter university.

The government was negotiating with the US on the resolution at the UNHRC calling for accountability and reconciliation issues in Sri Lanka and it might not be put to vote this week, UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe told the UNP parliamentary group meeting in Colombo, according to party sources.
Wickremesinghe said that the resolution was to be deferred on the strict condition that the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime undertook to speedily implement the LLRCs recommendations which inter alia call for the re-establishment of the independent police, election, public and judicial service commissions required to enforce the rule of law and safeguard human rights.
The government by rejecting all overtures by the UN, had placed the country and its people in the present predicament, Wickremesinghe said, adding that it was good to hear of a change in attitude even at this late stage.
Lakshman Kiriella MP said that the preamble to the US Resolution did not refer just to the last stages of the war and the killing of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakarn s teenage son but to abductions and killings committed nearly three years after the LTTE was defeated. |

Not related to the subject but I thought just posting this for the memebers or their informtion
This is Just History.
Subject: Why profile? It should be obvious after reading this!!
A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine that America can
suffer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves..
Pause a moment, reflect back.
These events are actual events from history..
They really happened!
Do you remember?
Gee...I didn't know this...did you???
1. In 1968, Bobby Kennedy was shot and killedby a Muslim male extremist.
2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred

No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure
we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport
security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people.
Absolutely No Profiling!
They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper
identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen
with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males
alone lest they be guilty of prof

Looks SL solved own problems and now trying to solve Palestinian problem...
Sri Lanka wants dawn of Palestinian State in the near future
19 March 2012, 11:40 pm
BY Ambassador Tamara Kunanayakam
Madam President,
My delegation, at the outset, associates itself with the statement delivered by Egypt on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Sri Lanka is steadfast in its support for the Palestinian people s struggle for a sovereign, independent, viable and united State of Palestine, on the basis of the secure and recognizable borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Sri Lanka has continued to express its profound disappointment that the Palestinian people have not as yet been able to realize their right to a State of their own, despite the repeated pledges of support by many member States. It is time for decisive action to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian and other occupied Arab territories, and the establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable State of Palestine. The realization of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination, will be in the interest of the security and wellbeing of all the peoples of the Middle East
It is a matter of profound satisfaction to my delegation that, in keeping with its longstanding advocacy, Sri Lanka could reaffirm its support for Palestinian nationhood by its support for full membership of Palestine in UNESCO in 2011.
Sri Lanka condemns the settlement campaign in the West Bank , blockade of the Gaza Strip, detention and imprisonment of thousands of Palestinian people, and other measures of collective punishment against the Palestinian people, constituting serious breaches of international humanitarian law and violations of human rights law and UN resolutions.
Sri Lanka also strongly condemns the recent Israeli attacks on the Gaza strip. |

Sri Lanka wants dawn of Palestinian State in the near future
Mono Ethnic ISrael is not stable in the long run when the old Palastinia had more than one religion.
IF ISrael build the whole palastinia into one federal country. that stabilize the existence of everybody.
Otherwise, they fight until one disappears. |
