Maninda my friend, you know nothing about the last stages of the war against LTTE. SL government had tremendous pressure from USA & EU countries to stop the war in the last stages when the terrorist were cornered.
My dear friend, the 'tremendous' pressure didn't turn into action by western countries because:
a)LTTE didn't have favourable public opinion in west and India
b)Indian government didn't give the nod for that action
The resolution and the ensuing debate are changing those fundamentals.
so we should make our policy decisions based on the public opinion in the west and in the south india??
Look at the case of Serbia and Boasnia. If global opinion is in conflict with a small country's domestic opinion, sorry, the latter lose. Tough luck!
Then again, does anyone really think that life is fair?!

If 15m out of 20m Sri Lankans ready to starve to death to keep the foreign elements out of SL with our democratically elected government what those countries can do?
Unlike India, SL has that sort of unity among the people when it comes to a crisis as you have seen during the last stages of the war despite there was no support from the opposition parties.
Don't think just only India is our friend. We have extremely powerful countries in the security counsel like China,Russia too. Sri lanka have a significant amount of control over India because of China....because India does not want SL get too close to China. Sri Lanka may be small but we are quiet smart in that case.. at the moment the west depends on China for their survival..not on India

What do you mean LTTE - child soldiers had help and they were willing participants with parental consent ? |
