. 'We hope those human rights champions will take note of the Japanese sentiment,' a senior government official told The Island yesterday. The Japanese statement couldn t have come at a better time, he said.
India may support to resolution... But they asked to remove the third sentence in the suggestions...that can cause to send a UN peace keeping force to Sri Lanka....... |

One thing I can guess abt that is..that India is looking for a loophole to avoid supporting! However having said that, can India being our close neighbour go against us? |

The Sri Lankan government yesterday welcomed Japanese declaration that no country has a perfect record on human rights.
How desperate!
SL, within the context of a debate on HR violations resolution aimed against itself, is welcoming a statement that no country has a perfect record on human rights! Isn't that a statement of self indictment? What can be a more candid admission of guilt than this?
How come SL ended up in this sitution, after all those heady days of military victory?
It wasted a golden opportunity to unite the country through genuine reforms and form a single and all inclusive sri lankan identity.
Today, SL is taking consolation in the statements like no country has perfect record... there can be no country specific resolution..SL needs more time etc... There are no statements anywhere on the horizon exonerating SL from the charges in the resolution.
In short, everybody thinks that SL is guilty as charged, but with a 'but'. These statements are not of support, but of some extension of the time for reforms.
Regardless of what happens on March 23rd, SL has probably one last window of opportunity in the next two to six months to bring genuine reforms that will adequately address the grievances of minorities in SL.
Or else, as US warned, it really risks renewed conflict with threats to its territorial integrity!

India should play smart and say a unequivocal NO to any form of a Resolution in Sri Lanka, anything else will play into the hands of the western bullies and leave the door open for them to have a go in the future. It'll be Sri Lanka today and it'll be India's turn tomorrow.
Send a strong signal India, that's the only way you'll get respect from other countries and its the only way you'll ever be considered a future Super Power imo. |

:)))
Regardless of what happens on March 23rd, SL has probably one last window of opportunity in the next two to six months to bring genuine reforms that will adequately address the grievances of minorities in SL.
What r the 'grievances of minorities in SL' compared to the grievances of Dalits in India?

What r the 'grievances of minorities in SL' compared to the grievances of Dalits in India?
What a hillarious statement, man, given the context? :)))
How about, for a start, that there is no resolution against India and dalits brought out by world's sole superpower in UNHRC?
These guys! :))))))
Guys, don't spend your energy worrying about what this resolution will do to India in the long run, because this resolution is fcuking up SL's statusquo in both short, medium and long term! Focus you energy there! :))))))
