Dr Harsha charged that though the government claims it has achieved an 8 per cent economic growth, the positive outcome of such growth has not filtered down to the public.
This economic growth would be evident only to the Carlton class or the Carlton grade. What I refer to as Carlton class or grade are those who are surrounding the ruling clan. They are building hotels, staging night races, building one of the world s tallest towers, and they also staged ballroom dancing shows under the guise of winning the Commonwealth Games bid to be held in Hambantota.
This so-called economic growth is good only for a certain section of society. But to the majority of the working class people this so-called economic growth is only a pipedream. |

UNSYG Chief of Staff Nambiar reported to Co-Chair Ambassadors limited progress with senior Sri Lankan officials on obtaining a lengthier cease fire and time for diplomacy to persuade the LTTE to lay down arms and let civilians go. The President and his brother, Defense Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa, opposed any longer pause on the grounds it would only help the LTTE regroup, forcibly recruit more civilians, and train them to fight the Sri Lankan military. the US Embassy Colombo updated the Secretary of State.

Ane Apoi, even Indian president have no idea where sri lankan tamils are...
No Mention of Tamils' Plight in Prez Speech Upsets DMK
The absence of any mention of plight of Tamils in Sri Lanka in the President's address today caused some discontent in UPA ally DMK which said India should support a US-sponsored resolution against the island nation. |

Sri Lanka ruling party ally warns India could be next target of Western nations over Kashmir
JHU General Secretary and government Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said that India should support Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) sessions in Geneva.
The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), an ally of Sri Lanka's governing United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) says that India could be the next target of the Western conspiracies over the Kashmir issue.
Addressing a public seminar on the Western conspiracy in Geneva against Sri Lanka and how to face it, the Minister has called on India to stand by Sri Lanka with China and Russia.

COLOMBO, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka threatens to join international allies against the United States if it tries to force the country to extremes, a minister said on Monday.
Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka said Sri Lanka would have to join the enemies of the United States if it continues to pressurize the country.
'There are friends as well as enemies of the United States. We are ready to join the anti-U.S. allies if it is for forcing us to extremes,' Ranawaka said.
Joke of the day. Look like same as Dr. Gajan Silva's comments. What a fool? Whole garment jobs will disappear! |
