Sri Lanka Against Itself
The Hindu editorial, Chennai, March 5, 2012
While it is true that America's human rights advocacy is riddled with double standards, the debate at Geneva is an opportunity for Sri Lanka to reflect on why it finds itself at such a difficult pass. Over the past three HRC sessions, the Rajapaksa government was able to buy time with promises and action plans, which had they been executed could have saved Sri Lanka the diplomatic energy now being expended. Even the LLRC felt constrained to complain that its interim recommendations had not been implemented.
BTW, Srilanka fought the war behalf of India. West and USA wanted to destroy India into pieces. So, India knows it, Srilanka knows it. But how much India is thankful to Srilanka? India right now is playing USA card and will demand(blackmail) anything to get from Srilanka. India is an ungrateful country. |
