Rajapaksas continue to abuse power and victimise innocents, in North and South

Last week Sri Lanka s august legislature granted another three month leave-of- absence to parliamentarian Duminda Silva.

It s more than two months since the Acting Magistrate of Colombo, Prasanna Alwis, issued an order to arrest parliamentarian Duminda Silva in connection with the Kollonnawa quadruple-murder.

Mr. Silva is thus a man wanted by the Lankan judiciary, a man evading the courts he has been a fugitive from justice for more than two months. By granting him a leave-of-absence, is the legislature aiding and abetting Mr. Silva s wrongful conduct?

The parliament s extremely opportune helping hand to Mr. Silva comes hard on the heels of two other reprehensible deeds by key state entities. The CID is yet to make a single move to implement the judicial order against Mr. Silva, using the equally curious silence of the Attorney General as its threadbare excuse. This lackadaisical conduct is in stark contrast to the zest and vigour displayed by every relevant state entity in the pursuit of Gen. Sarath Fonseka and his family including the aged grandmother of the former Army Commander s his son-in-law.
TC

World can see how justice
in Srilanka works!

The message embedded in this differential treatment is clear: in Rajapaksa Sri Lanka the law is only for lesser beings members and acolytes of the Ruling Siblings remain outside and above the law.

Duminda Silva is safe from justice as a (current) Rajapaksa favourite, he occupies a privileged position which enables him to break the law of the land without having to worry about his consequences.

The Duminda Silva saga proves, beyond doubt, that impunity and lack of accountability are key characteristics of Rajapaksa governance, be it in the North or in the South.

Impunity and accountability are mutually exclusive. Where there is impunity there cannot be accountability accountability is the best antidote to impunity

That is why USA and EU forcing GOSL to do through LLRC. Two type of laws, no human rights to it's own people.
