Sri Lanka offers prayers to ward off 'conspiracy'
Colombo: With a US-backed resolution targeting Sri Lanka's rights record likely to be taken up at a UNHRC meet in Geneva, the government here on Wednesday organised Buddhist religious prayers aimed at defeating the alleged international conspiracy against the country.
'We have organised simultaneous 'adhistana poojas' (prayers of determination) today at most leading Buddhist temples,' Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Deputy Finance Minister, said.
Prayers coincided with the 'poya day', the monthly holy day for the majority Buddhists.
'We will face the international challenge with determination,' Siyambalapitiya said

once again....
- politicians involved crime and violence
- people take law onto their own hand as they lost faith in Sri Lankan legal system
Two legal systems in Srilanka, one for Drug kingpins, Ministers and their politicaos and the other system for ordinery people. |

Tamils need mayhem In Sri Lanka.
IF not they get trouble else where.
RCMP have launched an international manhunt for the first person charged in connection with a ship that brought hundreds of Tamil migrants to Canada's West Coast a year and a half ago.
Thayakaran Markandu has been charged with organizing illegal entry into Canada, the Mounties announced Wednesday. The charge relates to the MV Sun Sea, which arrived in August 2010 carrying 492 Tamil migrants.
Markandu, who court records indicate was born in 1972, is currently believed to be living abroad, although the Mounties haven't confirmed where, said Sgt. Duncan Pound. |
