Sri Lanka ruling alliance sources say that a motion is to be moved in the parliament on next Friday seeking three months leave for the lawmaker injured in a shootout last year.
United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Duminda Silva is presently under three months leave following injuries sustained during a shootout that took place on October 08, 2011 as the local government elections were underway.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa's adviser on trade union affairs Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and several others were killed in the clash.
Duminda Silva is an accused of the murder and a court in Sri Lanka has issued a warrant against him.
H.N. Weliwitigoda, a secretary of the MP Duminda Silva has sent a letter to the Speaker requesting leave for the MP who is said to be undergoing treatment in an overseas hospital for his injuries.

US submits draft resolution on SL
At a first glance the resolution does not look that bad, probably disappointing peelamists and their parasites.
We should demand:
1. Western governments account for fund raising by disapora for LTTE
2. Promise that future activities of diaspora will be scrutinized
Now let the dogs have a bite at this.. |

An unexpected condemnation of India over accountability issues at the current sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has prompted India to take a line similar to that of Sri Lanka on the issue of foreign-NGOs. Sri Lanka and India have, according to Geneva based sources, taken exception to the views expressed by Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders Margaret Sekaggya, who was critical of them on the basis of unsubstantiated claims made by NGOs
Eelamaya and Chennai goo, your country is in trouble too.
I hope India will go along with Sri Lanka and fight this. |
