Sri Lanka does not have process vegetable and fruit industry such as bottled - Tomato chutney, Jam, blanched and packaged vegetables, quick frozen vegetables etc.
Therefore, farmers will be discouraged.
What do the politicians and ministries do ?
There will be a export market for processed vegetables and fruits.
See Thailand, China, Vietnam.,Phillipines - they package everything. Further they have new food product development from existing ones.

Sri Lankans not prefers to eat those canned fruits and preserved vegitables..... When they can get fresh vegitables what for they used these preserved...food???? |

I know the extent of that packaging and exporting very well.
That is nothing in comparison to what Sri Lanka can do.
There is no organized effort from the govt except for a few businessmen doing it in small scale.
There of lot of wastage of produce and that discourages farmers. |
