Oh Crap!! Rupee is alltime low against the dollar. 1$ = 121.25Rs. I think it might settle around 135. Oil going up and Rupee going down is not a good combination. SL should exploit the low rupee and export.

Thats why Rs.2.50 Deshapremi have become Rs. 1.75 Deshapremi. LOL

SL should exploit the low rupee and export.

One problem: the products are quoted in dollars and euros, local producers dont want to adjust for the dollar and their argument is that the cost of production has gone up.

Feb 27 (AD) United National Party (UNP) Councilors today (Feb. 27) morning attended Kandy Municipal Council sessions adorning black armbands in protest of the rise in fuel prices. The government is alone responsible for the resolution being brought against Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council, Neranjan Wijeyeratne leader of the opposition in the Kandy Municipal Council said.

GOSL's call for protest is going fine even the Muncipal Council is on board.

As LTTE is no more, so patriotism is needed to forget problems in the country.

Exactly, this is the patriotic card play by the government to fool it's own people.

But the people in Sri Lankan who can vote and live are clever. They know the most important thing is to stand togeather to face and defeat Tamil terror scum. Also they know the political leaders who can do it and vote for them too.

Politicians get elected with the votes from public. Once they got elected they are scared to go the masses.

what jokers Sri Lankan politicians are.

(Srilankamirror) - Founder-president of Sarvodaya Movement Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne has said that a time has come for the governments and political leaders to think of moving about without the security of armed personnel.

Fondly referred to as the Sri Lankan Gandhi, Mr. Ariyaratne said that a true leader should be devoid of fear like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

IF that hypothetical scum is not there, govt is in big trouble.

Rupee is going down, cost of living goes up very fast.

Sri Lanka is dependent on imports for everything. That includes food, energy, transport and every thing.

So, govt needs some means to divert the attention from govt stupidity.
