. The government had stopped purchasing fuel from Iran as a result of the crisis in that region and had gone for alternatives to obtain fuel, Minister of Power and Energy Susil Premajayantha informed Parliament yesterday.
In response to a question raised by Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in the House today, the Minister said the government had already gone into purchasing Arabian light fuel.
We can no longer purchase fuel from Iran because of the crisis, he said.
The Minister also assured that fuel prices would be reduced the moment the global prices go down as it had been done in previous occasions. |
