Sri Lanka`s inflation as measured by consumer prices in Colombo declined in December, figures released Monday by the Statistics Department of the Central Bank showed.
The inflation as measured by Colombo Consumers` Price Index (CCPI) decreased to 9.2 percent in December 2012 from 9.5 percent in previous month.
The decline was mainly attributed to the price decreases in the Food category.
However, the annual average inflation rate rose to 7.6 per cent in December 2012 from 7.2 per cent in November 2012. On absolute terms the CCPI index increased to 168.6 from 167.1 in November.
